Police Department Promotions

Yard Waste Season Begins
If the sunshine makes you want to spruce up your yard, you’re in luck! This year, the Public Works Department and SOCRRA are kicking off the annual yard waste pickup program two weeks ahead of schedule, starting the week of March 23, 2026, and running through the week of December 14, 2026. Set your yard waste out in paper kraft bags or a labeled container (labels are available at City Hall or the DPW yard) at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on your regular trash day. Yard waste is: Grass clippings, leaves, sod, garden waste, tree and shrub trimmings, small stumps, untreated and unpainted wood boards (nails removed), straw bales, and similar items. Yard waste is not: Food, pet waste, noxious weeds, grill charcoal, paper products, plastic bags, pumpkins, and other items that belong in the trash or recycling. Exciting improvements are coming to Martin Road Park! We’re happy to announce that the City of Ferndale has received grant funding from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources Land and Water Conservation Fund (MDNR LWCF), Oakland County Parks, and the GameTime National Demonstration Site Project. This generous support will help us expand the playground at Martin Road Park.
Ferndale Partnered with OLHSA to Offer Home Chore Grants for Qualified Residents (Extended for 2026!)
The City of Ferndale and the Oakland Livingston Human Service Agency (OLHSA) are pleased to announce a Home Chore Grant for Ferndale residents. Qualified seniors, people with disabilities, and low-income residents are eligible for a home chore program to help with home repairs and yard cleanup projects up to $5,000. The program has been extended as of February 2026.

Ferndale City Hall Displays Pan-African Flag in Honor of Black History Month
For the fifth year in a row, Ferndale City Council has unanimously passed a resolution to recognize February as Black History Month and to raise the Pan-African flag outside City Hall for the entire month as a symbol of its commitment to all individuals within the Black community.
Water Bill Update
The water bills for October through January, which are due in March, indicate estimate reads, based on prior usage history, instead of actual reads for this period. You can pay your bill as you normally do with your preferred payment method. If the estimate is higher than your actual usage, the extra will reduce the usage on your next bill. If the estimate is lower, the difference will also be reflect in your next bill. For most users, the estimated reading will result in a minimal cost difference between the two billing periods.
