Ferndale Community Foundation Grant 2024

If you or someone you know has made a difference in the Ferndale community through health, human services, public art, education, and other areas, we have an amazing grant opportunity for you. The Ferndale Community Foundation will award $2,500 (out of a total of $25,000) to 501 c (3) organizations whose projects have made a significant impact in Ferndale. Please keep in mind that general funding for operations or expenses does not apply. 

Current Water Main Breaks, Hydrant Use, and Brown Water

It can be alarming to see brown water coming out of the faucets of your house, but it’s likely to happen at some point due to water pressure fluctuations for a variety of reasons—construction, a broken water main, fire hydrant maintenance, etc. The good news is that most of the time there is no reason to worry and it's typically an easy fix. Wildflower Seed Giveaway

Our friends and environmental leaders on the Ferndale Environmental Sustainability Commission (FESC) are so excited to provide free wildflower seed mixes to Ferndale residents. This wildflower mix was curated by the FESC to support ecosystems and pollinators, assist with stormwater runoff, and enhance biodiversity. Plus, this program is entirely grant-funded!

Council Receives Public Safety Facilities Assessment, First Look at Possible New Combined Public Safety HQ

A report and presentation by Partners in Architecture highlights the deficiencies and disparities of the City's current Police and Fire facilities, and offers a conceptual look at what a combined new Public Safety Headquarters could look like.

We're over the moon (literally, we have a tree that was in space!) at the revitalized Wilson Park. Please join us at the City of Ferndale Wilson Park Ribbon Cutting (postponed from Sunday, October 13, 2024, to Sunday, October 27, 2024) from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. to check out the new and exciting playground system, walking path, trash and recycling bins, accessible water fountain, picnic tables with wheelchair access, parking lot, and beautiful landscaping. Light refreshments and activities will be available.

Leaf Pickup Begins Monday, October 21, 2024

Get those rakes out for the curbside leaf pickup service—your tax dollars in action. Leaf pickup runs from the week of Monday, October 21, 2024, through the week of Monday, December 2, 2024. Pickup alternates each week for the East side, West side, and entire City. Check out more information about the schedule and procedures in this article.

Ferndale Fire Department Open House

The Fire Department's Open House is back for the second year in a row! Visit Fire Station 2, located at 1070 E. Nine Mile Road in Ferndale, on Sunday, October 13, 2024, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. for all the fun and education. Take a tour of the station, check out the new fire engine, see a demonstration of the jaws of life, view hands-on CPR training, and learn how to use a fire blanket. The first 200 people to attend the fire blanket training will receive one for free!

Ferndale Fall Festival 2024

We’re looking into our crystal ball and are pleased with what we see—the Ferndale Fall Festival is back for the spooky season. One wristband admits you to a fall-themed wonderland of hayrides, pony rides, roller skating, carnival games, prizes, crafts, face painting, pumpkin painting, a trick-or-treat trail, and more while supplies last. Wristbands are $8 through September 27, 2024, and $10 until October 5, 2024. Small pumpkins ages one and under get in for free.

The DIY Street Fair and Funky Ferndale Art Fair Return!

What are you doing this weekend? You better be stopping by the Funky Ferndale Art Fair and DIY Street Fair in Downtown Ferndale! Browse and shop artwork from over 140 artists and authors. Check out some live music and get to know local businesses. And, make sure to eat and drink (responsibly!) at one of our food trucks or restaurants. This is all taking place this weekend from Friday, September 20, 2024, to Sunday, September 22, 2024.

Geary Park Parking Lot Temporarily Closed

The Geary Park parking lot at the intersection of Earle and Central will be temporarily closed for repaving beginning today, Tuesday, September 10, 2024. Construction is anticipated to be complete by Tuesday, September 17, 2024, weather permitting. Park goers can park on the street instead. Thank you for your understanding!

East Cambourne Intersection Construction: Train Track Right of Way

East Cambourne will be closed at the intersection of the railroad crossing tomorrow, Tuesday, September 10, 2024, and Wednesday, September 11, 2024, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This will allow the Public Works Department to complete pavement work within the railroad right of way east of the tracks.

Exciting Improvements are Coming to Martin Road Park!

Exciting renovations are happening at Martin Road Park. Don't worry, the park is still open during construction. These grant-supported improvements include new pickleball courts, a basketball court, a pavilion, a shade structure, drinking fountains, and accessible benches, tables, parking spaces, and paths.
