The Ferndale Police Department created the Honor Guard Team after the death of former Chief of Police Patrick Sullivan in 1999.
The Honor Guard Team has grown since that time into an effective unit that performs at City functions such as the Memorial Day Parade, Veterans' Day, and other appropriate City-sanctioned events.
The Ferndale Police Honor Guard has received training from the Minnesota Law Enforcement Memorial Association, and each of its members have or will attend a week-long training class at Camp Ripley Minnesota.
Cpt. David Spellman is the commander of the unit, which trains once a month to keep their abilities as finely tuned as possible.
Current Honor Guard Roster: Cpt. Spellman, Unit Commander, Sgt. Danielson, Sgt. Lemke, Ofc. Ungerman, Ofc. Wiacek, and Ofc. Mahlmeister
