Wellness Initiatives

The wellness initiatives offered to our employees provide them with the resources and tools needed to develop and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

 

Paid Parental Leave

As of January 2016, the City offers a progressive new paid parental leave policy for its employees. The City will now provide 12 weeks of paid time off for maternity, paternity, and adoption care leave—six weeks of existing leave allowance plus up to six weeks of matched paid time off. MiLife Health Clinic (Powered by Premise Health)

Our MiLife Clinic provides a wide variety of services centered around health and wellness. Some of the services they offer:

  • 1:1 health coaching
  • Nicotine replacement therapy
  • Free diabetic testing supplies
  • Assistance addressing sleep issues
  • Time & stress management

In addition to these services, MILife is a resource for health screenings and other clinical services. The City of Ferndale provides a wellness incentive payment to employees who participate in our Annual Health Assessment program.

 

Employee Assistance Program

The EAP helps employees deal with personal problems that might adversely impact their wellbeing. The program features include short-term counseling and referral services for employees and their household members.
