What Does the Fee Cover?

Dog parks require a higher degree of maintenance and management than other parks. Your park fee ensures that:

  • Fence and gate/lock equipment are in good working order
  • The park is well managed, dog visitors are up to date on necessary vaccinations, and owners have attended the safety class
  • The grounds are kept free of feces, and waste pickup stations are maintained with fresh bags and regular refuse removal
  • Grass and landscaping are tended/replaced as needed—considerably more often than regular parks due to the nature of urine and regular play

To ensure a safe environment for dogs and humans, we ask that all members adhere to
the following rules of use:

  • Hours of operation are dawn through dusk.
  • Off-leash dogs must be under voice control and in the owner’s sight.
  • The maximum number of dogs per adult in the play area is three.
  • Dogs cannot be left in the run area without supervision.
  • Dogs must be accompanied by an adult (18 years or older) at all times. Children ages 5-17 may only visit the dog park with an adult (18 years or older).
  • Children under 5 years old may not enter the dog park.
  • Dogs must remain leashed until they are inside the small or large dog-run area. No prong, pinch, choke, or spike collars are allowed.
  • Dogs in heat are not permitted in the park.
  • Dogs weighing 20 pounds or less are permitted in the small dog area.
  • Owners must clean up after their dog(s). Efforts will be made by the City of Ferndale to provide bags and waste receptacles, but always be prepared to address your pet’s waste by having a bag or two with you in the event dispensers are empty.
  • No smoking, glass containers, or "people food" are allowed in the park. This is to ensure the park stays clean and prevents dogs from begging for food or showing aggressive behavior.
  • Do not allow anyone without a membership into the park. Encourage visitors to visit the Kulick Center and register to become a member.

Failure to comply with the above rules may result in a revocation of your membership.
Refunds shall not be provided for revoked or suspended privileges.

Dog Park Survey

We recently conducted a survey regarding community feedback to the Dog Park. The results can be found here. We are pleased to report a generally positive community response. Our goal of this survey was to gauge the community's response toward the dog park, and the feedback will be used to ensure the park is the best it can be for residents and their furry friends.
