Police Department Promotions
The Ferndale Police Department (FPD) proudly celebrates the promotions of these outstanding officers:
- Stephen Wroe has stepped into the role of Sergeant, bringing five years of dedicated service to FPD and deep roots in the Ferndale community. He is a Berkley High School graduate and earned his bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and Political Science from Western Michigan University. Stephen’s commitment shines through his work as a Field Training Officer and Evidence Technician. He was awarded by his team as the 2024 Officer of the Year.
- Austin Bishop has risen to the rank of Lieutenant, having begun his career with FPD as an Auxiliary Officer in 2014, then becoming a full-time Officer in 2016. A proud United States Air Force veteran, Austin holds a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Oakland University and is a graduate of the Northwestern School of Police Staff and Command. His impressive career includes roles as a Detective with the Oakland County Narcotics Enforcement Team, a DEA Task Force Officer, a SWAT operator with the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, a Firearms Instructor, and a member of the Response to Resistance Team.
- Dan Kuzdzal has earned the title of Captain, marking a new chapter in a career that began with FPD in 2007. After graduating from Oakland University with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and completing the Northwestern School of Police Staff and Command, Dan has excelled in roles such as Field Training Officer, Honor Guard member, SWAT operator, Firearms Instructor, Detective with the Oakland County Narcotics Enforcement Team, member of the Response to Resistance Team, and most recently, Detective Lieutenant with FPD.
With these promotions, responsibilities grow, and impact strengthens. Each officer stands as a testament to the life-saving work carried out daily. The FPD extends heartfelt gratitude for their unwavering service and takes pride in honoring their dedication.
