Police Accreditation Public Comments Welcome

An assessment team from the Michigan Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission (MLEAC) will arrive on Friday, July 24, 2026, to examine all aspects of the Ferndale Police Department policies and procedures, management, operations, and support services.

The Ferndale Police Department must comply with 130 standards to achieve accredited status. Accreditation is valid for three years, during which the agency must submit annual reports confirming continued compliance with the standards under which it was initially accredited.

As part of this final On-Site Assessment, the public is invited to provide comments by emailing publiccomment@michiganpolicechiefs.org. Please include the agency name in the subject line. If you want your name removed from the final public report, please specify. Comments can be made until Friday, July 24, 2026.
