Decorating Fire Safety:
- Swap out real candles for battery-powered ones to keep your spooky glow safe.
- Keep all your festive decorations far from fireplaces, wood stoves, or space heaters.
- Toss out any string lights with frayed or pinched wires before you plug them in.
- Remember to turn off all lights before bed or leaving home.
- Use extension cords properly, and make sure they're rated for the device you're plugging in.
Cooking Fire Safety:
- Clear away anything flammable, such as food packages, oven mitts, wooden spoons, trays, or towels, from your stovetop and other heat sources.
- Stay focused while cooking and set a timer.
