2023 Property Tax Reminders

DEADLINE TO PAY 2023 PROPERTY TAXES

The last day to pay any remaining 2023 summer and/or winter property tax balance is Thursday, February 29, 2024.

Beginning March 1, all unpaid 2023 property taxes are delinquent and must be paid with additional penalties to the Oakland County Treasurer. During March and April, a revised tax statement from the City of Ferndale must accompany your remittance to Oakland County.

ARE YOUR 2023 PROPERTY TAXES PAID? CHECK NOW.

Because of slower delivery times from the USPS and other shipping carriers, payments mailed throughout the 2023 tax season may have not arrived to us on time, causing penalties and interest to accrue. Even if you suspect that you have paid your taxes in full, we highly recommend you verify a zero-balance before February 29.

Search for your address/parcel on our BSA Online Portal and pay any remaining tax balances due. If you have a mortgage company, verify that they are paying on your behalf.

Please contact taxbilling@ferndalemi.gov with any questions.

2024 NOTICE OF ASSESSMENT

Your 2024 Notice of Assessment was mailed in early February from Oakland County Equalization to the mailing address on file for your property. This notice shows the upcoming approximate changes in your tax bill; your taxable, assessed, and state-equalized values for the upcoming tax year; other general property information; and details about the March Board of Review. We recommend you give it a read so you are aware of any impending changes. If you have not yet received it, please contact Oakland County Equalization for a copy.

If you purchased your home/property in 2023, your property taxes will uncap to a new taxable and assessed value in 2024. Your only opportunity to challenge these changes, if necessary, is through the Board of Review, held annually in March.

2024 dates for the March Board of Review are:

  • Tuesday, March 5
  • Wednesday, March 6
  • Monday, March 11
  • Tuesday, March 12

Please also view the Notice of Assessment in February for dates and appointment times. For more information about this process and how your assessment values are calculated, please contact Oakland County Equalization.
