The Ferndale Parks and Recreation Department is currently seeking positive, dynamic individuals to join its state-licensed Summer Day Camp program as Camp Counselors. Counselors will oversee participating campers and lead them through group games, crafts, water play, interactive exhibitions, special events, and field trips.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assists the Camp Director and Assistant Camp Director with program development, planning,
implementation, and evaluation
• Models and facilitates positive behavior that nurtures social and emotional growth among
campers
• Maintains a safe and secure environment through active monitoring, direct intervention, and
First Aid administration as necessary
• Demonstrates, instructs, and facilitates all activities and accompanying tasks, including set-up
and clean-up
• Uses appropriate disciplinary techniques with participants and maintains log of all incidents
• Maintains good public relations by practicing departmental policies
DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• 18 years of age or older
• Valid state drivers’ license or state-issued ID
• Valid CPR and First Aid certification (training available to meet requirement)
