The City of Ferndale’s annual Dream Cruise event, August 17–19, brings perennial favorites back for another year of entertainment and offers exciting new options.
On Thursday, August 17, on West Nine Mile Road, Detroit Public TV will film the second-annual “Dream Cruise Road Show,” featuring classic rides and interviews with their owners. The show will be hosted by automotive analyst Bob Lutz and Detroit Public TV’s Fred Nahhat.
On Friday, August 18, the official Woodward Dream Cruise ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 5 p.m. on East Nine Mile. The ceremony will showcase a variety of ambulance, fire, and police vehicles. At other times during the day, East Nine Mile will host many special events, including Ferndale's emergency vehicle show from 1¬–8 p.m. and the Lights and Sirens Cruise at 5:30 p.m. Ferndale Fire Department will also provide free aerial rides on their apparatus truck throughout the day.
Also on Friday, from 1-8 p.m., West Nine Mile will host Mongoose Pro Monster Trucks and an exhibit of television and movie vehicles, including the Batmobile, Monkeemobile, Speed Racer, Munster Koach and more.
On Saturday, August 19, from 10 a.m.–7 p.m., Nine Mile Road will be transformed into the nineteenth-annual Mustang Alley, featuring more than 700 Ford Mustangs, which earns it the title of the largest car exhibit at Ferndale Dream Cruise.
Shake, rattle and roll through Ferndale Dream Cruise with live performances on West Nine Mile Road all three days of the celebration. The Rock’n Live Entertainment Stage will feature performances by American Band, City Beat, The Favorites, Crewsade, Full Tilt, Lookin’ Back (a Bob Seger tribute band), Shout! (a Beatles tribute band), and the Ferndale Community Concert Band.
