DTE: Planned Power Outages During Transition to New Power Substation

April 5, 2018

Some residents in east Ferndale will experience a brief power outage in the coming week as DTE works to transition electrical customers to their new substation infrastructure, located at Nine Mile and Hilton.

The transition is part of a planned infrastructure upgrade that will provide area residents with access to an upgraded electrical system and more reliable power.

During the transitions, power will be turned off for customers for up to four hours. Changeovers are being scheduled by area/neighborhood. If you live in:

  • The area bounded by 8 Mile on the south, Hilton on the west, south of Silman on the north, and the railroad tracks on the east:
your power will be out for some time on Saturday, April 7

  • The area bounded by Silman on the south, Hilton on the west, University on the north, and the railroad tracks on the east:
your power will be out for some time on Tuesday, April 10

DTE reports that all affected electrical customers have received direct communication from the utility company about this planned work. If you have NOT received this communication, or if you have additional questions, please contact the City's Community and Economic Development Department at 248-546-2363.
