Some residents in Ferndale will experience a brief power outage on Saturday, June 1, as DTE works to transition electrical customers to their new substation infrastructure, located at Nine Mile and Hilton.
The transition is part of a planned infrastructure upgrade that will provide area residents with access to an upgraded electrical system and more reliable power.
During the transitions, power will be turned off for customers for up to four hours. Changeovers are being scheduled by area/neighborhood. Saturday’s outage will affect the following two areas:
The first area is approximately defined as follows: The north side of 8 Mile Road between St.Louis St. and Allen St. on the South, the east side of Allen St. between 8 Mile Road and just South of Fielding St. on the West, the south side of Fielding St.between Allen St. and Laprairie St. on the North, and the west side of Laprairie St. between Fielding St. and 8 Mile Road on the East. Work is scheduled to begin in this area at approximately 9:30 A.M. The interruption could last as long as four hours.
The second impacted area is approximately defined as follows: A few poles south of Fielding St. between St. Louis St. and Laprairie St. on the South, the east side of Laprairie St. beginning just south of Fielding St. up to seven poles north of Hancock Ct. on the West, south of W. Marshall St. on the North, and the west side of St. Louis from Hancock Ct. to about five poles south of Fielding St. on the East. Work is scheduled to begin in this area at approximately 1:30 P.M. Again, the interruption could last as long as four hours.
In the event of inclement weather on Saturday, June 1, this job will be postponed until Sunday, June 2.
DTE reports that all affected electrical customers have received direct communication from the utility company about this planned work.
