The Recreation Program Specialist will plan, organize and coordinate a wide variety of parks and recreation programs, special interest programs, camps and events. The Recreation Program Specialist assists the Parks and Recreation Director and Deputy Director, as needed. This person will assist with park planning, park improvements, grant writing and management, and building and park rental programs, as well as performing related work as required.

DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

An employee in this class, upon appointment, SHALL have the equivalent of the following training and experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a parks and recreation-related field.
  • 6 months FT or 1-year PT experience in a parks and recreation setting.
  • Knowledgeable of functions related to parks and recreation.
  • 6 months of leadership experience is highly preferred.
  • Experience working in the following organizations is highly preferred; civic, philanthropic, school clubs, sports clubs, or volunteerism.
