Certificate of Occupancy

Certificate of Occupancy is a document issued by the Community & Economic Development Department certifying a building's compliance with applicable building codes and other laws, and indicating it to be in a condition suitable for occupancy.

In Ferndale, the C of O is required when a new building is constructed, the use of a building changes, or ownership of the building changes. A C of O is not required when buying/selling a private residence.
