Community & Economic Development

The Community and Economic Development Department (CED) works with all community stakeholders to improve Ferndale's quality of life. CED is the primary contact and liaison for the City's Planning Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals, Brownfield Redevelopment Authority, Mayor's Business Council, and Construction Board of Appeals.

This is an exciting time for infrastructure improvements in the City of Ferndale. 

The Livernois Corridor is being redesigned between 8 Mile Rd. and W. 9 Mile Rd., and Community & Economic Development just kicked-off the first planning phase of the City's future multimodal transportation plan. The new plan will bring improvements like those on Livernois to the rest of Ferndale. 

We have also partnered with the Woodward Avenue Action Association (WA3) to redesign Woodward Ave. as a complete street, and we're participating in the study to put rapid transit on Woodward.
